I did some Squirt testing yesterday….went for a great ride on my favorite FR trail near home. It was a perfect day, two days after rain…mid seventies and glorious…wish I had taken pictures.
I deliberately rode through mud, rain my chain through a stream, poured grit, mud and even some moss onto my chain (all in the presence of a friend / witness) and to be honest…when we got home – my chain was awesome clean.
Then last night I put a few chain links into the deep freeze (after applying two layers of Squirt….). the links were frozen, but within 3 – 4 seconds they were loose and actually felt better / smoother / more slippery than before….on my second attempt at freezing…I was able to break the frozen link with zero effort…I concluded that even if all links were to freeze …the forces applied to the chain would easily separate them no problem.
I did a water immersion test and proved that it really does repel water also…only one tiny globule remained on the chain and it was stuck between two links.

I got back from Whistler yesterday….after two days of riding. It was amazing. This was closing weekend and we went up and shredded the trails.
The weather cooperated and we had sun every day…however there had been snow up on the summit, so we had to ride through 6 inches of powder, then mud to get to the goods. It was the wettest and coldest I have been in a long while….check the snow on my drive train. Our bikes were absolutely muddy and I have got to say, this was the toughest test that my Squirt has ever endured….
Check out the pics: (by the way it is a tradition to dress up for the final weekend – so don’t think us DH dudes are weird)
